Apollomedics Hospitals Hosts ‘UMANG – Celebration of Life’ Honouring Cancer Warriors

Apollomedics Hospitals successfully hosted “UMANG – Celebration of Life”, a deeply moving programme dedicated to celebrating the courage, resilience and inspiring journeys of cancer survivors and caregivers. Held at Hotel Holiday Inn on Kanpur Road, the event brought together over 150 cancer survivors, their families, doctors, caregivers and distinguished guests in an atmosphere filled with hope, gratitude and strength.

The programme was attended by Dr. Mayank Somani, MD & CEO, Apollo Hospitals Lucknow, Dr. Harit Chaturvedi, eminent oncologist, Dr. Sapna Nangia, Radiation Specialist Oncology, Apollo Hospitals, and A.P. Maheshwari, former Director General, CRPF, whose presence underscored the collective commitment towards holistic cancer care and survivor well-being.

UMANG served as a powerful reminder that life beyond cancer is not only possible but deeply meaningful. The event featured five cancer survivors who courageously shared their personal journeys of diagnosis, treatment and recovery, offering moving insights into resilience and hope. The programme also witnessed performances by cancer survivors, including dance and singing acts, symbolising renewed confidence, joy and the triumph of the human spirit over illness.
Adding to the emotional depth of the evening was a theatrical play performed by Apollo Hospitals staff, highlighting the role of compassion, emotional support and teamwork in the cancer healing journey.

Renowned educator and motivational speaker Vikas Divyakirti, Founder, MD & CEO of Drishti IAS and Drishti Publications, attended the event as Chief Guest. In his address, he lauded the indomitable spirit of cancer warriors, describing them as living examples of courage, discipline and inner strength that continue to inspire society at large.

Speaking on the occasion, A.P. Maheshwari, Former DG, CRPF, said, “Cancer warriors embody a level of resilience and mental strength that even the toughest professional training seeks to instil. Their journeys remind us that true courage lies not just in fighting external challenges, but in overcoming the battles within. Programmes like UMANG play a vital role in restoring confidence, dignity and hope.”

Dr. Mayank Somani, MD & CEO, Apollo Hospitals Lucknow, and Patron of UMANG, said, “UMANG is our tribute to those who remind us that courage can outshine fear and hope can overcome uncertainty. At Apollo Hospitals Lucknow, we firmly believe that healing is holistic—it involves not just advanced treatment, but empathy, encouragement and community. Today’s celebration reflects our commitment to walking every step of this journey with our patients and their families.”
The event concluded with the felicitation of cancer warriors, acknowledging their strength and perseverance, followed by informal interactions that fostered bonding, shared inspiration and renewed hope.

Through UMANG, Apollo Hospitals Lucknow reaffirmed its dedication to comprehensive cancer care—blending clinical excellence with compassion—and to creating platforms that celebrate life, resilience and the enduring human spirit beyond illness.
