Fortis Noida's Initiative on Mother’s Day – Launch of Cervical Vaccination Clinic!

Noida :  According to the National Institute of Health, in India, one woman dies every 8 minutes due to cervical cancer. It is the second most common cancer among women in the country and the fourth most common globally. The main cause of this disease is the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types 16 and 18, which, when present in the body for a long time, can lead to cancerous changes in the cervical cells.

In light of the growing threat of cervical cancer in women and prioritizing their health, Fortis Hospital, Noida, has launched a dedicated Cervical (HPV) Vaccination Clinic on the occasion of Mother’s Day. This initiative not only promotes accessible healthcare services for cancer prevention but also serves as an important step in raising awareness about the rapidly increasing risk of cervical cancer among women in India.

On this occasion, Dr. Anjana Singh, Director and Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Fortis Hospital, Noida, said, "Cervical cancer can be detected through a Pap smear, but it is only a diagnostic tool and does not prevent the disease. If we can provide immunity to the cervix against this virus before it attacks, we can prevent the disease before it even starts. This vaccine, which is given in 2 doses to girls up to the age of 14 and 3 doses to girls above 14 years, provides protection against infections up to 94%."
