Suez Foundation India Launches Training Centre for Acid Attack Survivors in a Heartening Initiative

In a significant stride towards empowering women, Suez Foundation India has unveiled a Chikankari embroidery training centre dedicated to acid attack survivors, on the auspicious occasion of International Women’s Day. This commendable initiative, in collaboration with Sapnon Ki Udaan Foundation, aims to foster skill development and economic independence among women who have faced unimaginable adversities.

The inauguration of the training centre was graced by the presence of Lucknow Mayor, Ms. Sushma Kharkwal, at the heartening venue of Sheroes Café near Ambedkar Park. The ceremony marked a new beginning for 30 courageous women, identified and supported through this collaborative effort between Suez Foundation India and Sapnon Ki Udaan Foundation.

“This is a very good initiative by Suez Foundation India, I congratulate the SUEZ team for opening this centre for women acid attack survivors for supporting them in earning their livelihood, I also congratulate Sapnon Ki Udaan Foundation for this initiative” said Ms. Sushma Kharkwal. 

Under the umbrella of its 'One City One Operator' model, Suez selected Sapnon ki Udaan Foundation to spearhead this impactful project. Rajesh Mathpal, the Project Director, passionately stated, “This centre stands as a testament to the unwavering spirit of women in India and across the globe, affirming that their journey towards growth and financial independence cannot be hindered. At Suez Foundation India, our commitment is unwavering towards such noble causes, embodying our ethos, 'I am my community’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper'.”

This initiative not only aims at skill development but also endeavors to weave a tapestry of hope and resilience, empowering these women to reclaim their place in society with dignity and strength. The Chikankari embroidery training, a craft revered for its intricate beauty and cultural significance, offers not just a means of livelihood but a canvas for these survivors to stitch their stories of survival and triumph.
